Children & Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Did you know S.I.D.S. is the primary cause of infant deaths less than one year old? This year in the United States, around two-thousand five-hundred infants will fall victim to it. Although first we have to explain just what Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is. It’s the sudden death of a baby that is less than twelve months old. If your little one’s under four months old they are at an increased risk for it. Sadly even strong, healthy little ones can easily be victims of S.I.D.S. It generally takes place when they are asleep. For that reason, it is quite often called “crib death.” If there can be a positive, it will be that little ones do not display indicators of suffering because they usually are sleeping when it happens.
Who’s going to be at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome? That question’s troublesome to reply to with the tiny amount of understanding we have relating to it. It is mainly once the other causes are already ruled out (including health problem) that doctors might declare it was the reason. We do know for sure that it affects baby boys more than baby girls. Drug use while the child’s being carried furthermore enhances the probability. Though the major thing’s whenever babies are permitted to rest on their stomachs.
Positioning a child on the stomach instead of their back has been shown to cause an increased possibility of S.I.D.S. A few concepts seek to explain this. The initial theory’s that tension placed on the jaw can make it more difficult to breathe in the air. An alternate one states that they’ll inhale air that they’ve just exhaled. They’ll for that reason have reduced breathable O2 levels due to CO2 they breathe. All this shows you shouldn’t let your child to sleep on their belly. The truth is the American Academy of Pediatrics has verified this back in 1992. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome declined fifty percent when they did that.
You might have the fright that should you put your baby on their backs they could choke on their spit or vomit. But the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that this isn’t so. Yet it is best to make certain that you try to avoid positioning them on their side since that will allow them to move to their bellies. And last but not least, they should be completely immunized too. Adhering to these guidelines gives your little one a better chance to not get Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Yeast infections aren’t just something women get. Men can also have yeast infections. It may be a genital yeast infection or it could affect other parts of the body. Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of an ordinary yeast-like fungus growing in all humans. The most common of these microorganisms is candida albicans. There is a variety of unpleasant conditions that this little organism may cause if something triggers it to begin multiplying at an unusually high rate, resulting in candida overgrowth.
Some things that can cause candida albicans to overgrow are prolonged use of antibiotics, poor diet, a weakened immune system, diabetes, and several other instigators. Here are some of the symptoms you might experience if you have developed a male yeast infection.
Penile Yeast Infections
A penile yeast infection can be irritating and uncomfortable. You may see a white discharge from your penis, have a red, itchy rash on the tip of the penis, burning when urinating, or experience pain during intercourse. Jock itch is another symptom of yeast infection.
Symptoms of Other Yeast Infections
Yeast infections not associated with the genitals can present a conglomeration of symptoms, often making it difficult to diagnose the root cause as candida. These symptoms may include:
- Digestive problems due to the overgrowth of candida upsetting the balance of the digestive system
- Oral thrush, a condition where white patches appear on the tongue, mouth, or soft palette
- Bloating
- Constipation, diarrhea, or alternating bouts of both
- Mood swings
- Unexplained fatigue and general malaise
- Recurring athlete’s foot
- Unusual cravings for sweets or carbohydrates – Since candida albicans thrive on these foods, they are urging you to eat those types of products.
- Mental confusion
- Headaches
- Skin rashes
A Simple Test for Yeast Infections
Because of the variety of symptoms, even doctors often have difficulty diagnosing yeast infections. One way you can diagnose the problem yourself is simple and free.
Place a glass of water on your nightstand before you go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, before you get out of bed, spit twice in the water. Observe the sputum for the next 15 minutes. If the saliva dissolves, you probably don’t have a yeast infection. On the other hand, if it becomes stringy, cloudy, takes on the appearance of spider webs, or just sinks in a blob to the bottom of the glass, it’s very probable you do have a yeast infection.
Yeast infections are not only uncomfortable, if left untreated they can worsen and cause serious health problem. If you think you have a yeast infection, seek treatment as soon as possible from a physician, by following the candida diet, or through natural herbal remedies.

Read MoreAn Athlete’s Handbook to Dealing With Leg Cramps and Muscle Spasms at Night or During Exercise
Performing to the best of your physical abilities for any sort of extended period of time is something that will almost always lead to some sort of aches or pains later on. Often times, muscles that have been stretched to the limit will uncontrollably begin contracting in a very painful manner. These muscle spasms may come in the form of leg cramps at night while you are sleeping, an unexpected spasm of your hands or feet while writing something down or doing any number of other simple activities, or even a sudden cramp during an actual game or event. It is important to know what to do to deal with the excruciating pain during the cramping and the soreness left behind, but it is even more important that athletes know how to prevent these painful incidents altogether.
Stretching before performing any sort of physical activity is an absolute and well-known necessity. It is also extremely important that you slowly bring your exercising to a halt rather than suddenly stopping. Temperature plays an important role in this “warming down” process, so you will want to avoid taking a cold shower or splashing cold water on your body after intensive exercise as this will almost certainly lead to some serious muscle cramping later on. You need to make sure that your body is properly hydrated before strenuous physical activity if you want to prevent muscle spasms from occurring during the big game, but there is also quite an interesting Amish formula that an athlete can take right before going out on the field or right at the start of muscle cramping. Since this product known as Stops Leg Cramps uses only organic ingredients to make it’s unique formula, you won’t have to worry about drowsiness or any other negative side effect that might come along with a prescription alternative.
The severe pain that you feel when experiencing a leg cramp or similar muscle spasm will usually only last a minute or two, but a dull pain or soreness can last in the afflicted muscle for weeks afterwards. This sore feeling can leave even the fittest of athletes limping, and there is no way that you will be able to physically perform in any sports or athletic event as long as the weakness left behind from your cramping remains. Regular massages to the muscle that has been cramping will do quite a bit of good, and you will also want to try to stretch the muscle as much as you can without straining it further. Warming muscle products will usually make the pain go away within a couple of days, but the same Amish formula mentioned earlier provides almost instant relief – usually ridding all pain associated with leg cramps or a muscle spasm within just a minute.
Muscle contractions are not at all uncommon whether you’re an athlete or not, so you should avoid being alarmed unless anything seems out of the ordinary. Continual cramping or muscle spasms that wont seem to let up no matter what you do are probably a sign of a more serious condition, so anything similar to this should be brought up with your doctor immediately.
Read MoreHow Safe Are HCG Drops and Injections?
The hCG diet as come into popularity several times since its controversial beginnings in the 1950s. Originally, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin was approved by the FDA to treat fertility problems. Then endocrinologist A.T.W. Simeons observed that by giving much smaller, daily doses of the hormone to his obese patient, they would lose clumps of fat without losing lean muscle, and could eat much smaller amounts of food without feeling hungry. Dr. Simeons and his diet’s later proponents claimed that dieters cold lose up to 30 pounds a month on an allotment of only 500 calories a day. Is this safe?
According to Dr. Simeons, hCG, which is available in oral drops or injections, allows the metabolism to switch from burning its default macronutrient–carbohydrates–to burning its secondary macronutrient–fat. This is supposed to allow dieters to maintain the energy levels they had prior to starting the diet, although there may be a transitional period during the first few days where they may experience heads, fatigue and irritability. Dieters are prohibited for consuming alcohol, sugar, carbohydrates and dairy. Foods that are encouraged are lean meat and vegetables.
The Placebo Argument
HCG drops are available as “pure hCG” and in homeopathic form (HHCG). The main difference is that pure hCG drops are prescription-only, while HHCG drops have virtually none of the active ingredient, allowing it to be legally sold without a prescription. According to homeopathic theory, any medicine can be diluted to extremely minute portions while retaining it “essence”, or potency. This notion is summarily rejected by conventional medical science. Moreover, the fact that HHCG drops are almost entirely water provokes many critics, to contend that homeopathic hCG is nothing more than a placebo. Debates over homeopathic hCG vs real hCG continue, even by among the diet’s proponents.
HCG Side Effects
While some hCG diet dangers are attributable to the low amount of food being consumed, there are side effects to the hormone itself. The natural function of hCG in pregnant women is to form blood clots around the placenta to reinforce the uterus. HCG can potentially form blood clots wherever it circulates. Even a male hCG dieter once reported a pulmonary embolism, which a blood clot on the lung.
There are further dangers for women. HCG has been clearly linked with Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome, or OHSS. The symptoms of OHSS include abdominal swelling, respiratory problems, nausea and vomiting. HCG has been also found to cause temporary hair thinning, hand swelling, breast tenderness and headaches in men and women.
Weight Loss Clinics: The Recommended Approach
Anyone considering the hCG diet should absolutely consult a doctor, which will be necessary for a prescription anyway for pure hCG. Homeopathic hCG is considered riskier, since it arguable contains no appetite suppressant but still requires maintaining a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD). The best option, albeit the most expensive, it to enroll in a hCG weight loss clinic, where dieters receive daily hCG injections under a three-week to five-week program, then are required to eat normally for six weeks to avoid becoming inured to hCG effects. Any option that includes medical supervision is the preferred option.

Read MoreLower High Cholesterol Daily by Avoiding Foods High in Cholesterol
Many people don’t know where to start when they are told to lower their cholesterol levels. They may be tempted to overreact and try to change every aspect of their life in order to get back on track quickly. The problem with this approach is that you are unlikely to maintain any changes that you make without proper preparation. It’s often more beneficial to make small changes each day and then adapt your approach for a healthier body in the future. When it comes to cholesterol, there are things you can do on a daily basis that eventually add up to a healthier body and less stress associated with the situation.
Talk to your doctor – it’s important to keep in regular consultation with your physician so that you know exactly where you stand. It’s tricky to tell where your cholesterol levels are without regular updates since it’s not like you can look into the mirror and tell how your new diet is working out.
Start reading labels – a lot of people don’t really know what they put into their system and many ingredients are absolutely foreign to them. It’s time to see what you are actually eating and how these elements can impact your overall cholesterol levels. Play an active role in your own health by keeping track of things more accurately.
Saturated fats and trans fats – these are two things to be very careful of because they can impact your health in a variety of profound ways. Saturated fats are usually associated with processed meats while trans fats are elements that are deep fried. Unfortunately, they usually come in the form of foods that people find to be delicious and difficult to resist.
Start your day off with oatmeal – one very simple step you can do on a daily basis is to have a breakfast that consists of oatmeal. This is a food that is high in fiber which naturally absorbs cholesterol in your overall system. It’s a great way to balance high cholesterol foods that you consume while benefiting your body in other ways as well. Remember, there’s no rule that says oatmeal has to be boring either since you can pair it with a variety of fruits and a touch of honey for a delicious way to start off the day.
Cut out the excess – all of the different foods high in cholesterol add up in one way or another. At the same time, if you can make calculated substitutions while eliminating some of these elements, you can help yourself to lower cholesterol levels. For example, the next time you eat chicken, take off the skin and throw away. If you happen to have a baked potato, use a minimal amount of butter and sour cream if any at all. Or if you decide to have red meat for dinner then make sure to pair it with a fresh healthy side dish while cutting off as much excess fat as possible.
