Posted by Theo Williams in Money

In the great state of Georgia, payday loans are prohibited. This is due to a lot of reasons, there have been too many complaints about payday loans and some lenders have been found to be very abusive in their lending practices. Some lenders prey on people who are in desperate need of money. According to paydayloansreviews.org, today, payday loan lenders in Georgia are illegal, except for banking institutions. However, there is no law regarding the minimum or maximum amount of money which can be taken out on payday loans and there is also no information about interest rates. Payday loans in Georgia is indeed very different from that of other states’.

Payday loans in Georgia also do not have no time duration mentioned about the time in which a payday loan has to be paid. This is because laws in the state do not recognize anything which is considered payday loans. One of the things which apply to Georgia payday loans is the Industrial Loan Act. It says that 16% APR is the rate cap on small loans.

There is also no law in discussing rollovers in Georgia. Rollover happens when one person is unable to pay the loan in 14 days. So, what the person does is ask for an extension and he has to pay for the additional time extended to him or her. Most people have a hard time with rollovers because payment for rollovers does not include the principal amount borrowed.

Because of the fact that many people have been victimized by predatory practice of lending, the state of Georgia saw it fit to regulate payday loan lending. It is much better for people to take out loans from well-known banks than from obscure providers. People in Georgia today are generally protected from lenders who are like loan sharks. They can get better rates for their payday loans from banks unlike other people.
