The game Bananagrams from Charis Games is an instant classic. I have played a lot of games in this price range from the selection on Amazon.com and I have failed to find very many with this level of addictiveness. My family and I have literally lost evenings playing this game. But at the same time this is a game that you can pick up and put down quickly. The fastest round that my family and I have ever had lasted literally ust a few minutes.
If you were looking for a travel game then this is probably one the best options as well. The cool yellow pouch that the letter tiles come in makes the game very easy to carry around with you.
The rules of the game are quite simple, you all are most likely familiar with the game “scrabble”, well this game is a spin on the old game. It is not too dissimilar from the game “speed scrabble” because as you can now imagine this game is all about getting it done as fast you possibly can, but with a banana twist to it.
The game begins with each player receiving a number of letter tiles face down on the table from them. Once each player is ready to play, one player must shout out “split”. At the shout of split each player must begin flipping over each of their tiles and sorting the tiles into a crossword or scrabble like pattern, with lots of different words intersecting each other, I’m sure that you can imagine.
The first player to sort his letter tiles out can then shout “peel” and take another tile from the “bunch” or the remaining tiles in the middle of the table. The winner is the person to first finish his pile correctly after all of the tiles from the bunch have be taken.
Thanks for reading this review of what I think is the best travel game available at the moment.
