When you first read about him in the books or first saw him in a movie, Harry Potter was an eleven year old orphan who lived with his uncaring relatives. Seven novels and seven movie installments later, Harry Potter grows up to be one of the best-loved heroes in fantasy fiction.
The first three years
The first three books chronicles the first three years of Harry, from his Muggle-world existence as an orphan to his first year at Hogwarts where he met his best friends Ron and Hermione, to his third year when he realizes he doesn’t want to do anything with his Muggle foster family anymore. The first three books are the Sorcerer’s Stone or the Philosopher’s Stone, the Chamber of Secrets, and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In the first book, Harry discovers his true identity, that of a wizard whose parents had been killed by the evil Lord Voldemort. In the second book, the evil comes back as a younger version of himself. In the third novel, the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry learns to protect himself against the so-called Dementors.
Harry begins to grow up
In his fourth year at Hogwarts, Harry joins the Triwizard Tournament where later on Lord Voldemort appears and kills Cedric Diggory. You can read about this in the Goblet of Fire. In the fifth book, the Order of the Phoenix, Harry and his friends decide to learn the Defense against the Dark Arts secrets on their own, to contend with the Death Eaters. In year six, in The Half-Blood Prince, Harry and his friends are thrust into a wizarding world filled with mayhem. And in the last book, Harry faces the evil lord who killed his parents and to finally destroy him.
All the movies will show you how Harry Potter has grown and changed throughout the years. You can find a list of Harry Potter movies and start buying the DVDs or downloading movie files, if you haven’t watched all seven movies yet. With its excellent production, cinematography, and special effects, you will be whisked away to an enchanting universe of Harry Potter spells, magic, and triumph over evil.
