Incredible Avatar Last Airbender Episodes

Posted by Theo Williams in Arts

Avatar is a show depicting a journey on multiple levels. There is the literal interpretation of a fearsome conquerer needing to be stopped by a hero, but also the journey into the philosophies and psyches of the characters involved. It shows clearly that the lines between good and bad are not so easily observable at face value and that sometimes there is redemption even for those who seem most unreachable.

The creation of the cartoon or anime was formed through a lot of seemingly unrelated events which occurred around the eventual creators. A sketch of a boy shepherding bison through the sky, a documentary of individuals being trapped in the south pole and more. Eventually Bryan Konietzko and co-producer Mike DiMartino corroborated to form the story of Avatar. Bryan Konietzko had stated the first bout of inspiration for the series started off with the doodle of a balding, old man which was later transformed into a child and that child would go on to be Aang, the primary hero of the story.

The world is influenced by Asian culture, deriving the philosophical practices of the cultures for the martial art and lifestyles of the people in the fantasy world. These people were categorized into four separate tribes, depicting the four fundamental elements thought, once upon a time, to make up the world.

Avatar last airbender episodes are set up in three seasons, each depicting a fundamental element, being water, fire, earth or air. Each season has twenty episodes and a movie for a finale. It starts off as the Book of Water, then to the Book of Earth, Book of Fire and ends with the destruction of the Fire Lord’s plans of domination. The Book of Air is excluded, as each book is themed based on Aang’s master of a particular element, and he starts the series off as a master of air.

The series was well received, obtaining 5.6 million views and receiving high ratings from Nickelodean. The series has received awards from the following areas: 2005 Pulcinella, 33rd Annie, 34th Annie, 36th Annie, 2007 Genesis, Primetime Emmy, Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards 2008, Annecy 2008, 56th Golden Reel, and 2008 Peabody.

Various other companies have sponsored this show, including Burger King and Upper Deck Entertainment. It has also been the theme of various lego products released.

Overall, it is an impressive piece which has been given much deserved praise.
