He has a mayor role in popularizing Malayalam movies among the community and around in India. Born in 1953, he has been playing in films for more than 30 years now and has been acting in more than 300 films. He is also know to the fans of Hindi movies. One of the best roles he has made in Hindi films was in Dhartiputra, released in 1993. He has received 5 Indian National Film Awards, 12 Kerala State Film Awards and huge amount of other awards from India and other countries as well, including Millenium Actor Award from Asianet Film. This year Asiavision and Radio Asia voted him as Most famous Keralite! He is a golden star for Malayalam movies for sure.
If you want to see his early career works then try to find Anubhavangal Paalichakal, released in 1971. He was 18 years old by that time. And slowly slowly he started to appear in more films. It was only 10 years later from his first appearance that he received an award for acting from the state of Kerala. By the mid 80s he was already a star of Malayalam movies. In coming year he is about to start shooting a film called The King and the Commissioner, where he will be playing together with Suresh Gopi leading action films star of Malayalam films.
